Receptionist Team Lead

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week across a Monday to Friday varied shift pattern between 08:00 and 20:00, plus a share in the weekend rota (09:00 to 17:00). You'll be joining Albavet Veterinary Surgeons in Kirkcaldy, part of the CVS Group, one of the UK's largest veterinary networks with over 500 practices.

As Receptionist Team Lead, you'll combine front-desk excellence with people leadership. You'll manage the reception team's rota, provide training and guidance, and support recruitment efforts while maintaining the warm, welcoming first impression that sets the tone for every client's experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the receptionist team, including training, support, and ongoing guidance
• Create and manage the team rota
• Support recruitment and liaise with CVS's internal recruitment team
• Answer phones and manage appointment bookings
• Respond to client queries via phone, email, and in person
• Register new clients and complete insurance documentation
• Dispense medications and process payments
• Deliver a warm, welcoming experience at reception

Requirements

• Previous receptionist experience is essential
• Leadership skills are highly desirable
• Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
• Excellent communicator with strong empathy
• Proven customer service skills and experience dealing with the public
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
• Veterinary experience is a plus but not required
• Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship unavailable for this role)
