Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You'll be the welcoming heart of Alver Vets, greeting clients and their pets, answering phones, and managing the busy reception desk. This permanent role offers 29 hours per week across a flexible shift pattern (two 10-hour shifts, one 7-hour shift, plus one Saturday in four), giving you a manageable schedule that respects your work-life balance. Located in Gosport, you'll work with a supportive team that values warm client care and smooth-running operations.

Your day will involve a mix of front-desk greeting, telephone and email queries, appointment booking, client registration, insurance form completion, medication dispensing, and payment processing. Most importantly, you'll create that welcoming first impression that puts nervous pet owners at ease.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer phones, manage enquiries, and book appointments efficiently
• Respond to client queries via phone, email, and in person
• Register new clients onto practice systems
• Complete insurance claim forms accurately
• Dispense medications to clients
• Process payments and handle transactions
• Provide a warm, professional, and welcoming experience to all clients arriving at the practice

Requirements

• Previous receptionist experience is essential (veterinary experience is a bonus)
• Resilient and able to handle potentially distressing or emotional client situations with empathy
• Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Proven customer service experience with members of the public
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
