About the Role

You'll be joining Torbridge Veterinary Centre, a friendly small animal practice in Bideford with a passionate, collaborative team. This permanent position is 36 hours per week, allowing you to balance clinical work with personal wellbeing. The practice handles a varied caseload including orthopaedic surgery, dental X-ray work, and medicine referrals, with several vets already holding certificates and a culture that actively supports further development in your chosen clinical area.

As an experienced veterinary surgeon, you'll bring strong clinical autonomy and confidence in handling diverse cases. You'll work in an environment where clinicians are empowered to make the best clinical decisions, where improvement is encouraged, and where best practice is actively shared. Your role will include taking the lead on surgical and medical cases, carrying out diagnostic investigations with precision, and offering guidance to the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on surgical and medical cases with clinical autonomy and precision
• Carry out diagnostic investigations and clinical examinations to a high standard
• Manage a varied small animal caseload including orthopaedic and dental work
• Support and mentor colleagues across the veterinary and nursing team
• Contribute to shaping clinical standards and best practice within the practice
• Develop your own clinical skills further, whether pursuing certificates or deepening existing expertise
• Deliver high-quality client care and build long-lasting relationships with pet owners

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon
• Strong clinical skills and confidence in surgical and medical cases
• Ability to work with clinical autonomy while contributing to a team environment
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient and client care
• Genuine passion for supporting animal welfare and owner satisfaction
• Natural mentor and team player with good communication skills
• Keen to develop further clinical expertise and pursue additional qualifications
