Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position at a modern, friendly small animal practice in Maidenhead. You'll work within a collaborative environment where clinicians are empowered to make the best clinical decisions, and best practice is actively shared across the team. The role is completely free of out-of-hours duties, and you'll never work sole charge, making it ideal if you value stability and a clear work-life boundary. You will have 1 in 7 weekend commitments (Saturday or Sunday days only).

You'll be delivering primary opinion care alongside receiving case transfers from member practices, managing inpatient care, performing medical work-ups, and undertaking routine and emergency surgery. The practice benefits from modern facilities, specialist equipment, and access to telemedicine support through Vet Oracle, the Advanced Clinical Services Network, and Regional Clinical Leads who are available for case discussion and mentoring whenever you need them.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide primary and secondary small animal consultations with clinical autonomy
• Manage surgical and medical cases, making clinical decisions with confidence
• Perform diagnostic investigations and routine and emergency surgery
• Contribute to clinical standards and support the wider team through mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Deliver excellent client communication and build trust with pet owners
• Engage in ongoing professional development and case learning

Requirements

• Veterinary degree (BVSc, BVetMed, or BVMS) and RCVS registration
• Minimum 2-3 years post-qualification experience in small animal practice
• Strong clinical knowledge, particularly in routine and emergency surgery
• Excellent communication and client care skills
• Ability to work independently and support colleagues through mentoring
• Full-time or part-time considered with flexibility to suit
