About the Role

This is a permanent position at Stow Veterinary Surgeons in the beautiful market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, nestled in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds. The practice offers genuine flexibility: full-time vets work 4 days a week (with some enjoying a 3-day week), or you can negotiate 1 to 2 days weekly, mornings only, or even Saturday-only rotas. OOH and Saturday cover are shared fairly across the team on a 1:6 rota, with the option to work from home or stay on site.

You'll be joining a modern, passionate small animal practice with excellent facilities including dental suite with digital x-ray, endoscopy, two theatres, imaging with digital radiography and ultrasound with cardiology capabilities, plus visiting cardialists and advanced practitioner surgeons. The team values collaboration and work-life balance, holding monthly team meetings and monthly one-to-ones with your line manager.

Stow-on-the-Wold has been serving the community for over 200 years, with a purpose-built premises opened in 2001. The practice also runs 4 branches in nearby Burford, Northleach, Milton under Wychwood, and Moreton in the Marsh. Accommodation options are available on site (one or two-bedroom flats), and nearby towns like Carterton and Witney offer further affordable options.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide primary and inpatient small animal care alongside medical work-ups and surgical procedures
• Lead on surgical and medical cases, carrying out diagnostic investigations with clinical autonomy
• Manage a varied caseload and offer guidance to the wider clinical team
• Support and inspire colleagues to help them develop and thrive
• Contribute to shaping clinical standards within the practice
• Share in the OOH rota (1:6 frequency) and Saturday cover (1:6 frequency)

Requirements

• Registered as a veterinary surgeon with RCVS
• Minimum 3+ years' post-qualification experience in small animal practice
• Confident clinical skills in surgery and medicine
• Ability to handle a varied caseload with clinical autonomy
• Strong communication and client care skills
• Team player mentality and commitment to continuous learning
• Willingness to explore additional qualifications or certificates (support provided)
