Equine Head Receptionist

About the Role

Scott Dunn's Equine Clinic is looking for an experienced Head Receptionist to join its friendly team in Wokingham. You'll be working Monday to Friday, and full-time or part-time applications are welcome.

This is a hands-on client-facing role where you'll help keep the reception area running smoothly, support the Practice Director, and lead a team of two receptionists. The clinic provides first opinion work, 24/7 emergency care and elective surgery, so you'll be part of a busy equine environment where calm communication and strong organisation matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a team of two receptionists to help deliver excellent customer service
• Support the Practice Director with administration, finance, Health & Safety and rota-related duties
• Answer calls and manage diaries
• Welcome clients and help ensure every visit or call is positive
• Handle appointment bookings, queries and payments
• Arrange medication orders

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist, administrator or in a demanding client-focused role
• Experience in a veterinary setting is a bonus
• Strong leadership skills and team management experience are highly beneficial
• In-depth equine knowledge from owning or working with horses
• Resilience, kindness and professionalism when handling emotional situations
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy
• Outstanding customer service skills and experience with the public
• Positive attitude and good teamwork
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
