Head Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

PetMedics is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse who is ready to lead with confidence, develop leadership skills and build a long-term career. The role combines nurse consultations, inpatient care, surgical support, team mentoring and day-to-day client contact, with 30 to 40 hours per week and the option to discuss alternative working patterns.

You will be joining a busy, collaborative nursing environment where development is actively supported. The wider CVS network offers a pathway for progression, along with opportunities to expand clinical interests, take on Schedule 3 procedures and grow into advanced clinical, coaching or leadership work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead nurse consultations and contribute to the smooth running of the nursing day.
• Oversee inpatient care and support patient outcomes across clinical work.
• Provide surgical support as part of the wider team.
• Mentor and develop colleagues within the nursing team.
• Build strong relationships with clients and communicate confidently with owners and colleagues.
• Help maintain a positive, welcoming and supportive team culture.

Requirements

• Experience as a Head Veterinary Nurse or in a similar nursing leadership role.
• Confidence in leading, mentoring and working collaboratively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A commitment to high clinical standards and good patient care.

About the Practice

PetMedics is a multi-site veterinary group made up of a state-of-the-art 24-hour hospital, a refurbished first-opinion practice and a dedicated consulting branch. The team includes experienced clinicians, Certificate Holders and colleagues studying towards advanced qualifications.

The practice offers access to digital x-ray, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory and referral support from its certificate-led hospital team.
