Veterinary Patient Care Assistant

About the Role

PetMedics Veterinary Centre in Walkden is looking for a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant to join the team on a permanent, full-time contract. The role is 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 20:00.

This is a hands-on support role where you'll help keep patients comfortable and the practice running smoothly. You'll work alongside RVNs and vets, with a mix of patient care, clinical assistance and reception support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and support to animal patients
• Assist vets and nurses with animal restraint
• Walk, feed and clean patients
• Prepare emergency and operating areas
• Carry out general cleaning and maintenance tasks
• Run internal lab samples
• Answer emergency calls
• Support the reception team with bookings and payment processing when needed

Requirements

• Animal care and handling experience
• Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning and handling
• Strong customer service and public interaction skills
• Good communication skills
• Empathy, resilience and professionalism in emotional situations
• A positive, team-focused attitude
• Veterinary environment experience is preferred
