Student Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This Student Veterinary Nurse position offers the chance to build your skills in a supportive hospital environment while working towards qualification as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. You’ll be an integral part of the practice team, supporting patient care under the guidance of Veterinary Surgeons and Registered Veterinary Nurses.

The rota is full time, 40 hours across a 4-day week, with shifts varying between a 7:30am start and a 7:00pm finish. It’s a practical role for someone who wants broad experience, steady support and the opportunity to grow in confidence as you progress through training.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the veterinary and nursing teams with a wide range of surgical and medical procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care, monitoring and support for hospitalised patients under the guidance of qualified colleagues.
• Develop practical nursing skills and clinical knowledge in line with your training and level of experience.
• Support nurse clinics, client education and the delivery of good client care.
• Help maintain hygiene, infection control, patient welfare and clinical safety standards.
• Assist with pharmacy duties, stock management and the preparation of clinical areas.
• Work collaboratively with the wider practice team and contribute to a positive working environment.
• Take an active role in learning and development, making the most of opportunities to build confidence.

Requirements

• Currently studying towards a veterinary nursing qualification, ideally in your first or second year.
• Previous ANA or VCA experience would also be considered.
• Passion for animal welfare and excellent patient care.
• Enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn, with a positive and flexible attitude.
• Good communication skills and an interest in working as part of a team.
• Organised, conscientious and willing to get involved in all aspects of practice life.
