About the Role
You will join Highcroft Veterinary Centre in Longwell Green as a Veterinary Receptionist, working 25.13 hours per week on a permanent contract. The rota runs Monday to Friday between 08.00 and 20.00, with a share in the Saturday 08.00 to 17.00 rota.
This role suits someone who is comfortable being the first point of contact for clients and pets, while helping the practice run smoothly day to day. The practice places pets first and describes the work as both client focused and emotionally aware, so kindness, professionalism and a calm approach matter here.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer incoming calls and book appointments efficiently.
- Handle queries by phone, email and in person.
- Welcome and register new clients at reception.
- Process insurance forms and carry out payment transactions.
- Dispense medications when required.
- Organise patients using the in-house system.
- Liaise with other veterinary practices regarding patient needs and queries.
- Make calls about debts, belongings and refunds when needed.
- Offer empathetic client care during difficult moments while keeping a professional approach.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role.
- Veterinary reception experience is a bonus, but not stated as essential.
- Strong communication skills and genuine empathy.
- Resilience when handling emotional situations.
- Excellent customer service skills and confidence with the public.
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Right to work in the UK is required, as visa sponsorship is not available for clinical support roles.
