Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This permanent position offers 40 hours per week working Monday to Friday on varied shifts between 08:30 and 18:30, plus a share of Saturday mornings (08:45 to 12:15). Based at Cundall & Duffy Veterinary Centre in Scarborough, you'll be the welcoming hub of the practice, handling everything from booking appointments to supporting distressed pet owners through challenging moments.

You'll work as part of a CVS Vets-owned practice, joining a network of over 500 practices and 8,000 dedicated professionals across the UK, all united by a simple mission: putting pets first. The practice values your role as essential to client experience and animal care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Greet and register new clients, ensuring a warm welcome to the practice
• Respond to client queries via phone, email, and face-to-face with professionalism
• Process and manage insurance forms accurately
• Dispense medications as required
• Process payments and handle financial transactions correctly
• Organise patient records using the in-house practice management system
• Liaise with other veterinary practices to address patient needs
• Manage debt recovery and refund communications
• Provide empathy and emotional support to clients during distressing times while maintaining professionalism

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Receptionist, ideally in a veterinary practice
• Resilience and ability to handle emotional situations with grace
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy for clients
• Outstanding customer service experience and experience working with the public
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available for this role)
