Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

This is a full-time, daytime-only opportunity based at Church Walk Veterinary Centre in Ulverston. You'll be the hub of client communication and care, managing everything from appointment scheduling and client registration to processing payments and supporting clients through emotional moments. You'll work Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week (08:30 to 18:30), with no on-call or overnight responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and schedule appointments efficiently
• Respond to client queries via phone, email, and face-to-face with professionalism and empathy
• Greet and register new clients, creating a warm welcome
• Process and manage insurance forms accurately
• Dispense medications as required
• Process client payments accurately and efficiently
• Provide emotional support to clients during distressing situations while maintaining professionalism
• Organise patient records using the in-house system efficiently
• Liaise with other veterinary practices to address patient needs and queries
• Handle phone calls regarding debts, belongings, and refunds

Requirements

• Previous reception experience is essential; veterinary reception experience is a bonus
• Resilience and ability to handle emotional situations with grace and professionalism
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy
• Excellent customer service skills and experience working with the public
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)
