Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This permanent Veterinary Surgeon role is based at West End Vets, Morningside branch in Edinburgh. The rota is 40 hours a week across 3 to 4 days, and the practice has confirmed there are no emergencies, no OOH, and that complex surgery is seen at the main branch.

The role is described as flexible on hours, and it sits within a community focused practice with modern facilities, a loyal client base, and a supportive team culture. You will also be linked into the wider CVS network and the Tollcross practice, where experienced colleagues are available for advice, mentorship, and case support.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a varied first opinion caseload at the Morningside branch.
• Carry out surgical and medical cases.
• Undertake diagnostic investigations.
• Provide client care that builds trust and continuity.
• Support and mentor colleagues where appropriate.
• Contribute to clinical standards and case discussions within the team.

Requirements

• You should be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon.
• You need to be confident handling surgical and medical cases.
• You should be comfortable carrying out diagnostic investigations.
• You should enjoy supporting colleagues and working as part of a team.
• You should be comfortable offering guidance on a varied caseload.

About the Practice

West End Vets Morningside is a well established, community focused practice in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is part of CVS and works closely with the Tollcross practice, giving the team access to a wider network of experienced colleagues, including two vets with surgical certificates and one vet with a certificate in feline medicine.
