Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking small animal practice in beautiful North Yorkshire, right by the coast near Marske-by-the-Sea. The role is part-time, 30 hours per week across 3 days, with flexibility available to discuss your scheduling needs. Best of all, there is no out-of-hours or weekend work required, giving you genuine Monday-to-Friday working and genuine time back.

You'll join a collaborative team of three vets, a Head Nurse, five RVNs, SVNs, four PCAs and dedicated support staff. The practice is well-equipped with ultrasound, ECG, digital X-ray and multiparameter monitoring, and benefits from a visiting orthopaedic surgeon for specialist cases. You'll work in an environment where regular clinical meetings, 1:1 support and open communication are the norm, and where every voice is heard and valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide small animal veterinary care across medical and surgical cases, working with a supportive team
• Carry out diagnostic investigations with confidence and precision
• Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to the development of clinical standards across the practice
• Build strong client relationships through clear, transparent communication and informed decision-making
• Contribute to the practice's strong clinical culture through regular case discussions and skill-sharing meetings
• Option to work consultations-only if preferred

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary surgeon (MRCVS)
• Experienced in small animal general practice
• Confident handling a varied caseload including surgical and medical cases
• Commitment to continuous professional development and gaining confidence in different case types
• Strong team player with natural mentoring instincts
• Excellent client communication skills and focus on animal welfare
