Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a Veterinary Surgeon role with a choice of around 21 hours a week on a part-time basis or 40 hours a week across a 4 or 5 day week. There are no nights, although you will contribute to the weekend day rota.

You will be joining a small animal team that works across several Wiltshire sites, including Warminster, Westbury, Bradford on Avon and the 24/7 hospital in Trowbridge. The setup offers a varied caseload, strong clinical continuity between day and out-of-hours teams, and the chance to follow cases through with colleagues across the group.

The practice has digital x-ray, ultrasound and dental services across its sites, with dental x-ray also available at Westbury and Trowbridge. The Trowbridge hospital has provided emergency OOH care since 2018 and has now gained hospital status through the RCVS Practice Standards Accreditation Scheme.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon across the Harris, Hill & Gibbons Veterinary Centre sites.
• Take responsibility for surgical and medical cases, including diagnostic investigations.
• Work within a first opinion team that also supports a 24/7 hospital and emergency OOH care.
• Contribute to the weekend day rota.
• Help maintain case continuity between the daytime and out-of-hours teams.
• Support colleagues and share best practice across the multi-site service.

Requirements

• Experience as a vet is required.
• You should be confident in your clinical skills.
• You should be comfortable taking the lead on surgical and medical cases.
• You should be keen to develop your confidence further.
• You should be a team player with a mentoring approach.
• You should value client care and clear communication.

About the Practice

Harris, Hill & Gibbons Veterinary Centre is a progressive multi-site veterinary team serving communities across Wiltshire. Its sites are in Warminster, Westbury, Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge, where the group also runs a 24/7 hospital.

The Trowbridge site has provided emergency out-of-hours care since 2018 and now holds hospital status through the RCVS Practice Standards Accreditation Scheme. The wider CVS support structure includes central HR, recruitment, payroll, IT, finance and procurement teams, alongside investment in practice facilities.
