Equine Head Receptionist

About the Role

This is a permanent Equine Head Receptionist role with Scott Dunns (Wokingham), based at Straight Mile Farm in Wokingham, Berkshire. The clinic welcomes full-time or part-time applications, and the working pattern is Monday to Friday.

You will be joining an experienced equine team made up of vets, nurses and administrators. The practice covers first opinion work, 24/7 emergency care and elective surgery, so the front desk plays an important part in keeping things organised and positive for clients.

The role suits someone who enjoys a busy veterinary setting, has strong customer service instincts and is comfortable taking responsibility for both people and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the reception team of two to help deliver excellent customer service
• Support the Practice Director with administration, finance, health and safety, and rotas
• Answer calls, manage diaries and welcome clients
• Handle appointment bookings, client queries, payments and medication orders

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist, administrator or in another demanding, client-focused role
• Experience in a veterinary setting is beneficial
• Strong leadership skills and team management experience are highly beneficial
• In-depth equine knowledge from owning or working with horses
• Resilience, empathy and professionalism when handling emotional situations
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills and confidence working with the public
• Positive attitude, teamwork and proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
