Veterinary Patient Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a permanent full time Veterinary Patient Care Assistant position at Highcroft Veterinary Hospital in Whitchurch, Bristol. You’ll work 40 hours per week on a varied Monday to Friday shift pattern, with a share of the weekend rota.

The role sits within a first opinion practice and focuses on practical day to day support for pets, RVNs and vets. It is a hands on role for someone who already has animal care and handling experience and is comfortable helping in both clinical and front of house tasks when needed.

The hospital is part of CVS Vets, so you’ll be joining a large veterinary group with a strong emphasis on care, support, learning and progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients
• Assist vets and nurses with animal restraint
• Walk, feed and clean patients
• Prepare emergency and operating facilities
• Carry out general cleaning and maintenance
• Run internal lab samples
• Answer emergency calls
• Support reception with appointments and payment processing when needed

Requirements

• Animal care and handling experience is essential
• Customer service and public interaction skills
• Resilience and the ability to handle emotional situations with kindness and professionalism
• Strong communication skills and genuine empathy
• A positive, team focused approach
• Previous veterinary environment experience is preferred
• Right to work in the UK is required, as visa sponsorship is not available for this clinical support role
