Veterinary Patient Care Assistant

About the Role

This is a permanent Veterinary Patient Care Assistant role at Market Cross Veterinary Clinic in Dalkeith, Edinburgh. The position is based on site and offers 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday between 08.30 and 18.30, with a shared Saturday 08.30 to 12.30 rota.

You will be supporting the clinical and reception teams in a first opinion practice, helping to keep patient care organised and responsive throughout the day. The advert highlights pets first as a key focus, with the role centered on practical support for animals, clients and the wider team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support RVNs and vets with day to day patient care.
• Assist with animal restraint when needed.
• Walk, feed and clean patients.
• Prepare emergency and operating areas.
• Carry out general cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Run internal lab samples.
• Answer emergency calls.
• Support reception with appointment booking and payment processing when required.

Requirements

• Animal care and handling experience is essential.
