Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

Highcroft Veterinary Hospital is recruiting a Veterinary Receptionist for its Whitchurch site in Bristol. This is a permanent role working 17 hours per week, with Monday to Friday shifts on a varied pattern and a share of the weekend rota.

You will be helping keep the front desk organised, calm and welcoming for clients at what the advert describes as a pet-first practice. The role also includes handling sensitive conversations with empathy, so it suits someone who can stay professional while supporting people at stressful moments.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and book appointments
• Respond to client queries by phone, email and in person
• Greet and register new clients
• Process insurance forms
• Dispense medications as required
• Take payments accurately
• Support clients with empathy during difficult or emotional situations
• Organise patients using the in-house system
• Liaise with other veterinary practices about patient needs and queries
• Make calls regarding debts, belongings and refunds
• Help ensure every client feels welcomed and valued

Requirements

• Previous experience as a receptionist or in a demanding, client-focused role
• Veterinary reception experience is described as a bonus, not a requirement
• Strong communication skills
• Genuine empathy and kindness when dealing with emotional situations
• Excellent customer service skills and experience working with the public
• Positive teamwork approach
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems
• Right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not offered for this clinical support role
