Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You will be joining Nine Mile Veterinary Hospital in Wokingham as a permanent, full-time receptionist. The rota is 41.25 hours a week, with Monday to Friday shifts of either 8:00am to 4:30pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm, plus 1 in 4 Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

This is a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment where client care is central to the role. You will be the first point of contact for visitors and callers, helping to create a welcoming experience while keeping the front desk organised and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and book appointments
• Respond to queries by phone, email and in person
• Welcome clients and check them in for appointments
• Dispense medications as required
• Process payments accurately
• Support clients with empathy during difficult situations
• Use the in-house system to organise patients
• Liaise with other veterinary practices about patient needs and queries
• Handle calls relating to debts, belongings and refunds
• Keep the client experience welcoming and organised

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience is required
• Veterinary reception or veterinary sector experience is a bonus
• Strong communication skills
• Genuine empathy and resilience
• Confidence working with the public
• Positive teamwork approach
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems
