ECC Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a weekend ECC Veterinary Surgeon position with CVS24 at Dovecote Veterinary Hospital in Castle Donington. The role covers Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 7pm, and the weekend commitment can be shaped to suit a regular pattern, extra ECC alongside another role, or a more flexible portfolio approach.

You will be working in a busy multidisciplinary hospital, seeing a varied emergency and urgent care caseload with access to advanced diagnostics, specialist support and experienced ECC nursing teams. The advert also highlights the reassurance of referral hospital support, so you can work independently while knowing specialist help is available when needed.

The location may suit vets who value both work and lifestyle, with the Peak District nearby and easy access to Derby, Nottingham and Leicester.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage weekend emergency and urgent care cases at CVS24 Dovecote Veterinary Hospital.
• Handle medical emergencies, trauma, urgent surgical presentations, hospitalised inpatients and complex medical or surgical investigations.
• Work within a multidisciplinary referral hospital environment.
• Make use of specialist support when dealing with neurological, soft tissue, orthopaedic or imaging cases.
• Provide excellent patient and client care in a fast-paced, varied setting.

Requirements

• Veterinary Surgeon status.
• Confidence prioritising and managing clinical cases.
• Enjoyment of emergency and urgent care medicine.
• A collaborative approach to teamworking.
• Previous ECC experience is desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
