About the Role

Dragon Vets is seeking a full-time Veterinary Receptionist to join its supportive team based at Cheltenham Racecourse, with occasional visits to the practice’s three other branch surgeries. This is your opportunity to work in a popular small animal clinic with modern facilities and a collaborative, friendly atmosphere where being part of a larger team really matters.

You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, managing appointments, payments, and queries with confidence and care. The role involves shift work across 37.25 hours weekly, typically between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, with one Saturday morning every four weeks (8:00 am–1:00 pm).

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients face-to-face and over the telephone with professionalism and genuine warmth
  • Book appointments and manage the practice’s scheduling system efficiently
  • Process payments and handle client queries promptly and accurately
  • Maintain high standards of client care across all interactions
  • Multitask effectively during busy periods and prioritise work appropriately
  • Support the wider team across Dragon Vets’ Cheltenham Racecourse and branch surgeries
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office and practice management software

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident, reliable, and willing to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and internet systems
  • Strong ability to multitask and prioritise workload
  • Genuine interest in animals and pet care
  • Team player mentality – essential for working within Dragon Vets’ large team
  • Reception experience is desirable but not essential

About the Practice

Dragon Vets is a well-established small animal practice based at Cheltenham Racecourse, operating four branch surgeries across the region. The main site is an air-conditioned facility with impressive diagnostic and surgical capabilities, including on-site blood gas analysis, CT and DR imaging, high-end ultrasonography, ECG, and video-endoscopes. Operating theatres are equipped with multiparameter monitoring including capnography, ligasure, and laparoscopic facilities.
