🕐 Schedule & Rota

No formal out-of-hours or weekend rota required

About the Role

This is your chance to immerse yourself in specialist small animal orthopaedic practice at a busy referral centre based near Cambridge. You’ll work alongside an experienced team in a supportive, positive environment where learning is genuinely prioritised. The role is full-time and, refreshingly, does not require formal out-of-hours or weekend rotas—allowing you to focus entirely on developing your orthopaedic skills.

You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full patient journey: initial consultations, admissions, anaesthesia, advanced diagnostic investigations including CT imaging, surgical procedures, and postoperative care. The internship is designed to prepare you for advanced training such as residencies, and you’ll be encouraged and supported in undertaking and publishing a scientific research study during your time here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of small animal orthopaedic patient management
  • Participate in consultations and case admissions
  • Support anaesthesia and perioperative care
  • Contribute to diagnostic investigations including CT scanning
  • Assist in surgical procedures and postoperative management
  • Engage in clinical research and scientific publication opportunities
  • Work within a collaborative specialist referral team

Requirements

  • Veterinary degree (MRCVS or equivalent qualification)
  • Genuine interest in small animal orthopaedics
  • Previous experience in small animal practice or an internship is ideal
  • Exceptional new graduates will also be considered
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and willingness to learn in a specialist environment

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £32,000 per annum
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • RCVS and VDS membership paid by the practice
  • Contributory company pension scheme
  • Additional company fringe benefits
  • Access to a comprehensive online library of veterinary and medical journals
  • In-house training and supportive working environment
  • Opportunity to undertake and publish research
