Join a modern, supportive small animal practice near Norwich where you'll focus on nursing—not reception. This 12-month maternity cover role offers genuine work-life balance, great facilities, and a team that values you.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours responsibilities. Daytime role with 1:6 Saturday morning rota only.

About the Role

You’ll join Eaton Veterinary Practice as a Registered Veterinary Nurse covering maternity leave for up to 12 months. Based in a modern, purpose-built surgery on the outskirts of Norwich, you’ll be part of a close-knit team of 4 vets and 6 nurses who genuinely protect nursing time. Unlike many practices, the focus here is on letting nurses concentrate on clinical work rather than splitting attention with reception duties.

The practice sits in a village setting with easy access to the Norfolk countryside and beaches just 30 minutes away, while the A47, A140, and A11 are within 5 minutes for commuting. You’ll work four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) from 8:30am to 7:30pm, plus a manageable 1:6 Saturday morning rota. There are no out-of-hours shifts—this is daytime small animal work with proper boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inpatient nursing care, including monitoring and treatment
  • Theatre nursing and surgical support
  • Conducting nurse consultations and clinic work independently
  • Dispensary duties
  • Occasional reception cover when needed (though the practice minimises this)

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN qualification required)
  • Confident working without direct supervision
  • Ability to run and manage nurse clinics independently
  • Strong commitment to high-quality patient care across all life stages
  • Excellent team working and client relationship skills

Benefits

  • Leave: 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays) plus additional holiday on your birthday
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance, 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay
  • Professional Development: £550 annual CPD allowance with 24 hours paid CPD leave, certificate support, access to IVC Evidensia Academy, Vetlexicon online resource, research funding opportunities, Infection Prevention and Control Programme, Quality Improvement Programme
  • Professional Memberships: VDS cover and RCVS fees paid
  • Pension: Company pension scheme with IVC Evidensia contribution
  • Commute & Lifestyle: Cycle to Work scheme and Green Cars Scheme, discounts with hundreds of retailers, voluntary benefits package
  • Pet Benefits: Discounted treatment for your own pets at any IVC Evidensia practice

About the Practice

Eaton Veterinary Practice is a modern, purpose-built small animal clinic serving the Norfolk area. The team comprises 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Receptionists, and a Practice Manager. The facility includes a spacious waiting area with excellent ventilation, four consultation rooms (including a dedicated nurse consult room), a well-equipped theatre, imaging room, prep area with cattery visibility, and nearby kennels for easy patient monitoring.
