About the Role

Join Goddard Veterinary Group's first opinion GP practice in Barking, serving the community on the outskirts of urban Essex. This is a sole charge position offering flexibility: you'll work Wednesday or Thursday and Friday each week, with a 1:4 branch Saturday and 1:8 Sunday rotation at Wanstead Hospital. If you prefer 4 days, the practice is open to exploring additional shifts in the region.

The practice is well equipped with digital x-ray and dental x-ray facilities, making it ideal if you have a bias toward surgery and dentistry. You'll have full clinical and operational support from your nursing colleagues, regional manager, and regional head vet. Barking is just 6 minutes' walk from the overground and circle line, making London easily accessible. Behind you sits Wanstead 24-hour hospital, a state-of-the-art referral centre with CT, advanced surgical teams, and strong medical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough consultations, examining pets and making evidence-based treatment recommendations aligned with GVG protocols
• Perform surgery within your personal competence, respecting overnight care limitations
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure comprehensive pet histories
• Prescribe and dispense medications in line with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance
• Refer cases appropriately to GVG Hospital when needed
• Work collaboratively with your RVN to ensure clinic SOPs are actioned and branch meetings are scheduled
• Oversee consulting and surgical/diagnostic diaries in compliance with company policies
• Help maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Veterinary registration with RCVS
• Ability to work confidently as sole charge, providing full GP services
• Competence in general small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry
• Bias toward surgery and dentals a bonus

Benefits

• Salary: £35,100 to £52,650 (£60,000 to £90,000 FTE) depending on experience
