About the Role

Hart Veterinary Centre is a well-established small animal practice operating across two modern sites in Bicester and Waddesdon since 1993. The Bicester location is a fully equipped 24-hour hospital with dedicated night nurses, ensuring continuity of care and gold-standard treatment around the clock. You’ll be joining a small, friendly clinical team of vets and nurses who prioritise collaboration, clinical excellence, and a positive working environment.

This full-time position runs on a 4-day week with shifts of 9 to 9.5 hours, starting as early as 7:30am or finishing as late as 7:30pm, giving you genuine flexibility. You’ll be working in a facility that boasts digital x-ray, a dedicated dental suite, in-house laboratory equipment, modern anaesthetic monitoring, and separate cat and dog wards—plus the team is proud to hold Silver Standard ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care across theatre, inpatient, and consultation settings
  • Support anaesthesia, surgery, and patient monitoring with confidence and competence
  • Run nurse consultations and provide preventative healthcare advice to clients
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to maintain clinical standards
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of patient care practices

Requirements

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement

The practice is unique in employing dedicated night nurses at the Bicester hospital every night of the year, ensuring patients receive consistent high-standard care 24/7. The practice serves a wide catchment from Bicester and Aylesbury through to Oxford, Thame, Brackley, Banbury, Winslow, and Milton Keynes.
