Locum Veterinary Surgeon – Sole Charge

About the Role

You’ll be joining an independent first-opinion practice in Cambridgeshire as a locum veterinary surgeon, taking on ad hoc shifts on a flexible basis. This is a daytime-only role (typically 9am–7pm) with no out-of-hours or weekend commitments – ideal if you’re looking to balance flexibility with straightforward clinical work.

The practice has a particular interest in feline medicine, and you’ll be confident managing both routine operations and consultations, plus dental procedures. This is a sole charge position, so you’ll be working independently as the only vet on site – perfect for experienced vets who thrive with autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage first-opinion consultations and operations independently
• Perform dental procedures within the practice scope
• Provide clinical care for a caseload with a feline bias
• Maintain clinical standards and client communication during daytime shifts
• Work flexibly around available ad hoc dates that suit your schedule

Requirements

• Registered Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS qualified)
• Confidence working as sole charge – able to manage independently
• Competence in surgical operations and dental work
• Experience or strong interest in feline medicine
• Flexible availability for ad hoc shifts
