About the Role

Inshes Vets is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their busy first-opinion small animal practice in the Scottish Highlands. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours across Monday to Friday, offering a balanced workload within a well-established team.

Based in Inverness, the practice is ideally positioned for those who value outdoor pursuits and countryside living. You’ll be within easy commuting distance of Cairngorm National Park, northern Scotland, and the Outer Hebrides—perfect if you’re looking to combine rewarding veterinary work with an excellent Highland lifestyle.

The team is substantial and collaborative: 7 full-time and 2 part-time veterinary surgeons, 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, and a Veterinary Care Assistant, all supported by a comprehensive administrative team. You’ll work various shift patterns to ensure balanced coverage and reasonable workload distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality in-patient nursing care across the caseload
  • Assist in theatre, dental, and diagnostic procedures
  • Manage anaesthetic monitoring and perform Schedule 3 procedures
  • Conduct nurse-led consultations
  • Support laparoscopic procedures and laboratory work
  • Mentor and support Student Veterinary Nurses through their training
  • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and wider practice team to maintain clinical standards and advance patient care

Requirements

  • RCVS Registration as a Veterinary Nurse (current and in good standing)
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Effective organisational and workload management abilities
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
  • Team-orientated mindset with enthusiasm for delivering excellent care standards
