Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

Join Midforest Vets as a Registered Veterinary Nurse on a part-time, 12 month fixed term maternity cover basis. The role is based primarily at the Lyndhurst practice, with working hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am to 7:00pm, plus participation in a 1 in 5 Saturday rota from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Occasional support at the Totton branch may also be required.

You'll be part of a close-knit team in the New Forest, working in a practice that blends tradition with modern veterinary medicine. The Lyndhurst site is housed in a charming thatched cottage and has been serving the local community for over 35 years.

In this role, you'll support first opinion cases, deliver high-quality nursing care and contribute to a positive client and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nurse consultations and day-to-day patient and client care.
• Deliver inpatient nursing care with a focus on comfort, welfare and recovery.
• Support laboratory work, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia monitoring and surgical cases.
• Triage and assess emergency cases, including nursing tasks such as IV catheter placement.
• Help keep the practice running smoothly while maintaining clinical standards.

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience in clinical practice.
• Growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.
• Good organisation and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement.
