About the Role
This is a part-time Twilight Veterinary Care Assistant position at Hamilton Specialist Referrals, based just outside High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. The role is set across 16 hours per week, working two evenings a week from 16:00 to 00:00, with a bank holiday rota of around two per year and TOIL.
You'll be part of a large team within a purpose-built, 24-hour veterinary hospital. The practice delivers advanced treatment for dogs and cats, along with rehabilitation and physiotherapy services, and places real emphasis on a friendly, supportive culture, clinical excellence and high standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the clinical team in delivering care for patients and clients
- Handle patient restraint and general patient care
- Maintain kennels and keep clinical areas clean and safe
- Carry out laboratory tasks and process lab samples
- Clean and sterilise equipment, instruments and surgical tools
- Support theatre operations, including theatre cleaning and closing procedures
- Assist with procedures, dispensing duties and hydrotherapy sessions
- Look after machinery and equipment used in the clinical areas
Requirements
- You should be reliable, motivated and comfortable working as part of a team
- A caring, professional approach with an interest in animal welfare is important
- Good communication skills are needed for working with colleagues and clients
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage tasks in a busy environment are required
- A proactive attitude to learning and openness to feedback and development is valued
- Experience working with animals in a clinical or non-clinical setting would be advantageous
