About the Role
This Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon role at Oundle Veterinary Surgery offers a varied small animal caseload, with the chance to build on your surgical and medical confidence while working alongside a larger clinical team.
The rota is clearly structured, with four days a week from 8am to 7pm, one day off each week, one hours lunch break per day, one late shift a week from 9:30am to 7:30pm, and 1/6 Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 12pm or 1/6 Saturdays from 8:30am to 5pm. Friday afternoon is given as TOIL the following week, and there is no out-of-hours in this role.
You’ll be joining a practice group that values collaboration, regular clinical meetings and ongoing investment in equipment, with the added benefit of working across multiple locations while still feeling part of a wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver primary care veterinary work across a varied small animal caseload.
- Carry out routine surgeries and more common emergency procedures, including pyometra surgery.
- Work closely with the wider practice team to support patient and client care.
- Share clinical knowledge and contribute positively to the practice’s clinical culture.
- Support the development of colleagues while continuing to build your own skills and interests.
Requirements
- A veterinary degree and registration, or eligibility to register, with the RCVS.
- Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
- Good communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development.
- Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Good level of surgical competence for routine surgeries and more common emergency procedures.
