Wood Street Vet Hospital in Barnet is a historic Georgian building housing modern veterinary facilities. This is a full-time fixed-term position (12 months) across four days per week, including 1 in 3 Saturdays on rota (some with sole charge). As a Vets Now host practice, there is no OOH or on-call commitment, allowing you to maintain a genuine work-life balance.
You'll manage a diverse caseload including dogs, cats, rabbits, small furries and wildlife. Surgical work spans routine operations through to laparoscopic procedures, orthopaedics, thoracic surgery, BOAS management, dentistry and emergency cases. The hospital's extensive in-house capabilities include radiography, dental X-ray, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, laparoscopy, electrosurgery, stapling, orthopaedic kits, ventilators and advanced monitoring equipment.
Your time splits between the main hospital and the Rosemary Avenue practice site, though clinicians preferring single-site placement can be accommodated. You'll work alongside highly capable RVNs, many with certificates who run their own clinics and support surgeries.
Wood Street Vets has been serving the local Barnet community for more than 100 years and is part of Inspiring Vet Care, the UK's number one vet care provider caring for over 2 million animals. The practice operates five sites across Radlett, Mill Hill, Cockfosters, Enfield and Barnet, with a combined team of 14 Vets and 18 RVNs. Among the clinicians are certificate holders in internal medicine, surgery and cardiology.
The Barnet hospital is located in a vibrant area with cafés, shops and green spaces nearby, just a five-minute walk from the nearest tube station. Facilities include a spacious reception area, separate cat and dog waiting rooms, three consult rooms, three theatres, a large prep area, fully equipped IDEXX lab, dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray, digital X-ray room, scan room, isolation ward, separate dog and cat wards, and quiet office spaces for case work-ups.
