About the Role

This is your chance to join a multi-award-winning small animal first opinion and referral hospital in King's Lynn, Norfolk. You'll work across a varied caseload in consulting, theatre, and inpatient care, supported by a team of five veterinary surgeons and thirteen registered veterinary nurses. The practice has achieved Outstanding in all six RCVS awards and holds Gold Standard Cat Friendly and Silver Standard Rabbit Friendly accreditations.

The role offers genuine flexibility: full-time positions are structured as 38 hours across four days per week, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota and no out-of-hours overnight commitment. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed, and rotas can be tailored around your preferred working pattern and clinical interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard patient and client care across first opinion and referral cases
• Work collaboratively with five veterinary surgeons, thirteen RVNs, and support team to manage a varied small animal caseload
• Contribute to the practice's clinical culture by sharing knowledge and supporting colleague development
• Develop clinical skills and interests in areas such as internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, laparoscopy, or acupuncture
• Utilise the practice's advanced equipment including CT, video endoscopy, laparoscopy, vascular sealing device, harmonic scalpel, CR digital radiography, and colour flow Doppler
• Engage with the practice's learning culture through mentoring and peer collaboration

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Minimum two years' post-qualification experience preferred
• Growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning with openness to feedback and development
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
• Certificate studies welcomed but not essential

About the Practice

Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital, part of inspiring vet care, was established in King's Lynn in 1984 and relocated to its current purpose-built hospital facility in 1990. The practice is a multi-award-winning small animal hospital accredited by the RCVS with Outstanding status across all six RCVS awards. The team includes five veterinary surgeons (including certificate holders in emergency and critical care, soft tissue surgery, and ophthalmology), thirteen registered veterinary nurses, two student veterinary nurses, three patient care assistants, and nine support staff.
