Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This is a full-time or part-time opportunity to work as a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon across Paxton Vets' two South London sites. You'll deliver high-standard patient and clinical care alongside a collaborative team, managing a varied and rewarding small animal caseload. The practice values continuity of care and has served its local community for over 60 years, with strong relationships built on trust and quality service.

The rota is refreshingly manageable: Saturday cover is 1 in 7 (9am to 5pm with TOIL in lieu). You can choose from multiple weekly patterns to suit your lifestyle: a standard 5-day week with flexible start and finish times (8:30 to 5pm, 10am to 6:30pm, or 11am to 7:30pm on rotation), or a 4-day week option (8:30am to 7pm or 9am to 7:30pm).

Both sites are well-equipped with ultrasound, digital and dental x-ray, laboratory facilities, and comprehensive inpatient care equipment. You'll also have access to mentorship, clinical coaching, and peer networks to support your ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent clinical care across routine medical and surgical cases with growing confidence
• Work collaboratively with the wider practice team to maintain high standards of patient and client care
• Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing to the clinical culture and supporting team development
• Build effective relationships with clients and manage your caseload professionally and independently where appropriate
• Continue to develop your clinical skills and pursue areas of professional interest

Requirements

• Veterinary degree with RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing competence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with both clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback, and commitment to professional development
• Reliability, professionalism, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
