Farm Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated farm veterinary team serving a diverse client base of dairy, beef, and sheep farms across two beautiful practice locations in Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale, just 13 minutes apart. You'll work a flexible combination of both sites depending on cases, with daytime work supplemented by a 1:4 weekend on-call rota and one weeknight shift per week (5:30pm to 8am). Full-time or part-time hours are both considered for the right candidate.

The Kendal and Dales practices offer stunning countryside backdrop, excellent outdoor living, and solid transport links. Accommodation and a practice vehicle are available to support your relocation and daily working life.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-standard patient and client care across a varied caseload of routine medical and surgical cases
• Work collaboratively with a team of 4 farm vets to develop herd health and farm consultancy strategies
• Share your knowledge and clinical experience with colleagues, contributing to the clinical culture and supporting team development
• Build and maintain strong relationships with farm clients while managing both independent and team-based clinical work
• Continue developing your clinical skills and interests, with support to expand capabilities as needed

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or immediate eligibility)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning, openness to feedback, and commitment to professional development
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
