Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Woodside Veterinary Group, a progressive mixed practice operating across three sites in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire. You'll work on a full-time basis with a flexible 4-day week arrangement, delivering high-quality clinical care across a genuinely varied caseload of approximately 55% small animal, 40% farm animal, and 5% equine work. The role includes weekend day cover (Saturday and Sunday mornings for small animal urgent care) and shared out-of-hours duties across the 7-vet team, creating a manageable balance between routine work and emergency care.

The team is actively collaborative and supportive, encouraging vets to develop individual clinical interests and specialist skills within the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality clinical care across small animal consultations, diagnostics, and routine surgical procedures
• Support herd health planning, fertility work, preventative healthcare, and production animal medicine
• Manage routine equine ambulatory work including vaccinations, dentistry, wound management, and export-related cases
• Participate in shared out-of-hours emergency rota between 7 veterinary surgeons
• Work collaboratively with the team of 7 veterinary surgeons, 5 registered veterinary nurses, and support staff across all three practice sites
• Build strong client relationships and support continuity of care
• Contribute to a collaborative and values-led clinical culture focused on continuous improvement

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligible to register)
• Experience or genuine interest in mixed practice, including small animal and farm work
• Confidence in routine medical and surgical procedures
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with colleagues and clients
• Proactive and collaborative approach to clinical work and professional development
• Interest in developing individual clinical interests within a supportive environment
• OV qualifications would be advantageous but not essential

Woodside Veterinary Group is a well-established mixed practice operating across three sites in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire. The team includes 7 veterinary surgeons, 5 registered veterinary nurses, and dedicated support staff with diverse clinical interests and qualifications.
