Multidisciplinary Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of specialist departments at Moorview Referrals, rotating through Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Wards, Soft Tissue, Orthopaedics, and Imaging, while gaining exposure to Cardiology, Oncology, and Spinal cases. Whether you're an experienced nurse looking to deepen your knowledge or newly qualified and keen to develop advanced skills, you'll work within a large, supportive clinical team delivering exceptional patient care.

Located in beautiful Northumberland with easy reach of the stunning coastline and vibrant Newcastle upon Tyne, this role offers a flexible rota covering 40 hours between 6:30 am and 9 pm. You can choose either 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts to suit your lifestyle, plus a 1:5 weekend rota (Saturday and Sunday with time off in lieu) and bank holiday and Christmas cover. Part-time arrangements are possible, though Mondays and weekend shifts are required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging including CT and radiography
• Monitor anaesthesia during surgical and medical procedures
• Provide inpatient care including medicating, mobilising, and monitoring hospitalised patients
• Discharge patients and provide perioperative rehabilitation guidance
• Prepare patients for theatre and scrub into procedures where required
• Work across rotating specialist departments, delivering high-quality nursing care to complex referral cases
• Support colleagues across multiple disciplines including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, emergency care, and cardiology

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Experience in surgery, anaesthesia including complex cases, and out-of-hours work is well-suited to this role

Moorview Referrals is a busy, purpose-built referral hospital located in Cramlington, Northumberland. This modern facility is equipped to the highest standards with four operating theatres (one with fluoroscopy), CT and MRI scanners, electrochemotherapy machines for oncology patients, multiple ultrasound machines, and advanced endoscopy equipment. The practice maintains many cases on-site for rehabilitation through a dedicated rehab centre featuring physio and hydrotherapy equipment.
