Multidisciplinary Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

You'll deliver advanced nursing care to complex referral cases across a multidisciplinary hospital environment, rotating through departments including Medicine, Neurology, Wards, Surgery and Imaging. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week on a 5-week rotating rota between 07:00 and 19:30, with 1 in 5 full weekends (TOIL applies). It's ideal for an experienced RVN wanting to diversify their skills and gain exposure to specialist-level cases in a supportive, well-equipped setting.

Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is a large multidisciplinary small animal referral hospital based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31. The practice has recently expanded with a new purpose-built theatre complex, two-storey client reception area, 10 new consulting rooms and dedicated rehabilitation centre. You'll work alongside recognised specialists across multiple disciplines, a dedicated rehabilitation team providing physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, and a strong multidisciplinary nursing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Rotate through multiple departments (Medicine, Neurology, Wards, Surgery, Imaging) to develop broad clinical skills across complex referral cases
• Communicate with clinical teams and discipline-specific specialists to ensure high-quality patient care throughout treatment stages
• Support clinical decision-making and share knowledge with colleagues to improve patient outcomes and service delivery
• Provide nursing care that demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to different environments and patient needs
• Contribute to evidence-based practice and clinical governance standards within the referral environment

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Strong clinical capability and confidence across all aspects of clinical practice, with solid medical and surgical nursing skills
• Experience working with complex cases in a referral or advanced-care environment (beneficial)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance and continuous improvement
