About the Role

This part-time position offers a unique blend of client-facing service and clinical nursing at a leading 24/7 specialist referral hospital. You'll work 23 hours per week across Monday and Friday (07:30 to 19:30), meaning no nights, no on-call, and genuine work-life balance. The role sits at the heart of patient care coordination, from admission through discharge, ensuring clients stay informed and reassured whilst you deliver hands-on clinical nursing to complex referral cases.

Hamilton Specialist Referrals operates around the clock year-round, equipped with advanced facilities including a 16-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and dedicated imaging suites. The team specialises in orthopaedics, neurology, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine, creating a dynamic environment for experienced nurses seeking intellectual challenge without the burnout.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the central point of contact for clients throughout their pet's hospital journey, keeping them informed and addressing concerns with clarity and compassion
• Manage patient admissions and discharges, coordinating inpatient care alongside the Clinical Administration team
• Provide clinical nursing care within the wards team, including IV catheter placement, blood sampling, temperature and blood pressure assessment, sedation and anaesthetic recovery, and nurse-led consultations
• Act as a liaison between clients, veterinary clinicians, and administrative staff to ensure seamless communication and optimal patient outcomes
• Contribute to hospital audits and quality assurance initiatives

Requirements

• Current RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Significant experience in clinical practice with demonstrated interest in client liaison and ward nursing
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical governance
