Referral Veterinary Surgeon - Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Surgery

About the Role

This permanent, full-time position offers a rare opportunity to work across two established, well-equipped referral hospitals: frank. Pet Surgeons in Leeds (orthopaedics focus) and Swift Referrals in Wetherby (multidisciplinary soft tissue). The two sites are approximately 30 minutes apart, allowing you to maintain and develop expertise across both surgical disciplines while working within collaborative, specialist-led teams. The split between sites can be structured to suit service needs and individual strengths.

You'll manage a varied and stimulating caseload spanning advanced fracture management, TPLOs, complex joint procedures, spinal surgery, oncologic surgery, reconstructive and thoracic procedures, and minimally invasive techniques. You'll contribute to a supportive referral environment where you can grow clinically while supporting interns and nursing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage referral orthopaedic caseload at frank. Pet Surgeons, including advanced fracture repair, TPLOs, arthroscopy, corrective osteotomies and spinal procedures
• Provide soft tissue referral surgery at Swift Referrals, undertaking oncologic, reconstructive, thoracic and advanced abdominal cases, alongside minimally invasive techniques
• Work closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and experienced RVNs across both sites to deliver high standards of peri-operative care
• Support interns and nursing teams where appropriate
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of both services

Requirements

• RCVS registered (or eligible)
• Residency trained and board-certified (ECVS or ACVS), or board-eligible
• Candidates holding CertAVP (or equivalent advanced certificate) with substantial referral experience will also be considered
• Confidence managing complex surgical cases and working within a collaborative referral environment
• Team-orientated clinician with a passion for high standards of referral care
