Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse position at DentalVets in Haddington, supporting a dedicated referral service focused on dentistry and oral surgery for dogs, cats and zoo animals. You’ll be hands-on with advanced nursing work, including blood sampling, complex anaesthesia, dental radiography, charting, scaling and polishing, CBCT operation and direct assistance during procedures.

The role is built around a 40 hour week over 5 days, with no weekends, on-call or OOH. DentalVets describes a supportive and welcoming team, and there is a friendly competition running in the background to help keep the working day upbeat.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced nursing care within a specialist referral dentistry and oral surgery service.
• Support the management of complex referral cases.
• Work closely with the clinical team and contribute specialist nursing knowledge to patient care.
• Assist with blood sampling, complex anaesthesia, dental radiography, charting, scaling and polishing, CBCT operation and procedures.
• Help maintain a collaborative, patient focused approach throughout the working day.

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience in clinical practice.
• Growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing.
• Strong communication skills for working with clients and colleagues.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively.
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

About the Practice

DentalVets, Haddington is a dedicated referral practice specialising in dentistry and oral surgery. Its main operating room has three fully equipped bays, each with a heated dental table, dental X ray machine, processor and patient monitoring equipment, plus a dedicated sterile theatre for plating cases.

The team includes four vets, one anaesthetist, four RVNs and three support staff. The practice is based in Haddington, East Lothian, and says it is a short drive from the coast and within easy reach of Edinburgh. Patients travel from across Scotland and the north of England.
