Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a full-time Registered Veterinary Nurse position based at The Oak Veterinary Group's main practice in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. You'll work 37.5 hours per week between 8:00am and 7:00pm, Monday to Friday (including one late finish and one early start), plus a 1 in 5 Saturday rota from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Crucially, there are no out-of-hours requirements, giving you genuine work-life balance. Flexible working options are actively considered, and you'll receive a £1,000 welcome bonus plus a relocation allowance of up to £2,000.

The practice sits in stunning Pembrokeshire countryside and coastline. The main Haverfordwest branch is undergoing redevelopment during 2026 and offers comprehensive facilities including surgery, dentistry, internal laboratory, ultrasound, radiography and endoscopy. A sister practice in Fishguard provides hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, laser and acupuncture services, with a unique aquatic treadmill for patient rehabilitation.

You'll be part of a values-led, collaborative clinical team where patient care and continuous improvement drive everything you do.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of nursing care to hospitalised, inpatient and day patients
• Monitor anaesthetics and support patient safety throughout surgical and medical procedures
• Run nurse consultations and Wellness Screenings, including weight management, senior pet advice, dietary guidance and puppy and kitten advice
• Carry out procedures such as nail clipping, anal gland expression and dental checks
• Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team
• Take responsibility for nursing care of a range of first opinion cases
• Contribute to clinical standards and support ongoing development of patient care

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
• A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
• Team-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for delivering high standards of care
