Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

You'll join Mainstone Veterinary Clinic as a Registered Veterinary Nurse on a full-time basis, working 40 hours per week across 4 or 5 days with shifts between 8:00am and 7:00pm. This daytime-focused role includes one Saturday morning per month (8:30am to 12:30pm) with no overnight on-call requirement, making it ideal if you value work-life balance.

Romsey's established community practice has invested significantly in modern facilities. You'll work with a varied small animal caseload including dogs, cats, small furries and occasional wildlife cases, with a well-balanced mix of nurse clinics, surgical inpatients, medical cases and dentistry. The practice holds Silver Cat Friendly accreditation and is staffed by certificate holders in Ophthalmology and Emergency and Critical Care.

Your week will include routine procedures alongside orthopaedic cases and emergency presentations, ensuring clinical variety and rewarding day-to-day work within a collaborative, values-led team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to a varied first-opinion caseload of dogs, cats, small pets and occasional wildlife
• Support consultations, surgical procedures, medical inpatient care and dedicated feline clinics
• Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to maintain clinical standards
• Manage nursing responsibilities including orthopaedic, medical and emergency cases
• Contribute to the ongoing development of patient care protocols within the practice
• Build positive relationships with clients and colleagues through strong communication

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
• Clinical practice experience with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
• Team-oriented, confident and motivated to deliver high standards of care
