Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This part-time veterinary surgeon position offers a balanced mix of first-opinion general practice across a well-established group. You'll work three days per week plus a 1 in 8 weekend rota, averaging 30.5 hours weekly, giving you genuine flexibility alongside clinical variety. Based primarily at Rosemary Lodge Hospital in Bath, you'll also rotate through five satellite branch surgeries, each with its own character and client base.

You'll handle a mixed caseload of routine consultations and surgical procedures, supported by excellent facilities including on-site MRI, CT, digital X-ray and dental imaging. The central hospital serves as a referral hub with specialist clinicians and surgeons, creating genuine learning opportunities without the pressure of sole referral work.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver first-opinion clinical care across routine medical and surgical cases
• Conduct consultations and perform surgery at Rosemary Lodge Hospital and branch surgeries
• Collaborate with established clinical teams to maintain high standards of patient and client care
• Support colleague development and contribute positively to the practice's clinical culture
• Work both within structured team environments and independently as required across multiple sites

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligible to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with developing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning and openness to feedback
• Professionalism and reliability, with capacity to work both independently and collaboratively
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient and client care
