Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists is seeking an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon for a 12 month ophthalmology internship. The role is based within a busy specialist referral environment and is aimed at someone who wants to develop knowledge, clinical skills and experience in ophthalmology.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary referral hospital serving patients and referring veterinary surgeons across the South of England. The ophthalmology service handles a varied caseload, including corneal disease and surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma, uveitis, retinal disease, ocular emergencies, and complex adnexal and intraocular surgery.
The department has access to specialist ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical equipment, including operating microscopes, microsurgical instrumentation, phacoemulsification, electroretinography, ocular ultrasonography and advanced ophthalmic imaging. You will also work closely with colleagues in other specialist disciplines, gaining exposure to cases where ocular disease is part of a wider systemic or neurological condition.
