About the Role
You’ll be joining Hillman Vets on a permanent basis as a Veterinary Surgeon, working across the Lichfield and Brownhills sites. The role offers flexibility for both part-time and full-time applications, with a typical full-time week of 36.75 hours over 4 weekdays, plus 1 in 5 Saturdays from 09:00 to 12:30.
The caseload is varied and includes medical and surgical work, with regular opportunities to operate and the clinical freedom to follow your own cases. The practice has said there is no out of hours or on-call required, and periods of sole charge will be part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient and client care across a varied small animal caseload.
- Work collaboratively with the wider practice team across the Lichfield and Brownhills sites.
- Manage your own cases with clinical freedom.
- Take part in regular surgical work and medical consultations.
- Contribute positively to the clinical culture and support colleagues through shared knowledge and experience.
- Work periods of sole charge when required.
Requirements
- Veterinary degree and registration, or eligibility to register, with the RCVS.
- Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development.
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

About the Practice
Hillman Vets is part of IVC Evidensia and operates across 6 sites: Lichfield, Brownhills, Cannock, Arboretum, Great Barr and Kingstanding. The clinical team includes 9 FTE vets and 14 FTE RVNs.
The practice treats dogs, cats and small pets, and is described as exotic friendly. Facilities and equipment include digital x-ray, ultrasonography, a dental machine, doppler blood pressure, laparoscopic bitch spays, nurse-led laser therapy and phovia lamp consults.
