Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to join Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital, a high-achieving small animal first opinion and referral practice in King's Lynn. You'll work across a varied caseload including general practice, internal medicine, laparoscopy, radiology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and acupuncture. The role offers genuine flexibility with a 38-hour, four-day working week and a 1 in 4 weekend rota, with no out-of-hours commitment required.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality clinical care across consulting, theatre and inpatient work
• Manage a mix of routine medical and surgical cases in a first opinion setting
• Contribute to the practice's referral service in internal medicine, laparoscopy, radiology, soft tissue surgery, orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology and acupuncture
• Work collaboratively with a team of five veterinary surgeons including certificate holders in ECC, soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology
• Support the development of 13 Registered Veterinary Nurses, two Student Veterinary Nurses and patient care staff
• Develop your own clinical skills and interests while sharing knowledge with colleagues

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Minimum two years' clinical experience (preferred)
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Experience with routine medical and surgical cases, growing in confidence
• Proactive approach to learning with openness to feedback
• Professionalism and reliability, able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
• Certificates are welcomed and fully supported but not essential
