This is a fantastic opportunity to join Avondale Vets, a purpose-built small animal practice in Strathaven where clinical excellence and exceptional patient care sit at the heart of everything. You'll work a 40-hour week across 4 or 5 days (8am to 7pm), with Saturday mornings on a 1-in-4 rota and no out-of-hours responsibilities. Vets Now Glasgow handles all emergency cover, so you can genuinely enjoy your downtime.
You'll manage a varied first-opinion caseload with a rewarding mix of consultations, surgery, and diagnostics. Avondale Vets is a purpose-built small animal practice at the Strathaven Rural Centre, part of inspiring vet care (IVC Evidensia), the UK and Europe's leading veterinary care group with over 900 practices and referral hospitals. The practice is led by an experienced Small Animal Clinical Director with over 13 years in post and benefits from a highly skilled team: 4 Veterinary Surgeons (2 full-time, 2 part-time), a Head Veterinary Nurse, RVNs, an SVN, and an Animal Care Assistant.
The practice is well-equipped with digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house laboratory, and laparoscopic surgery facilities. There's a growing orthopaedic service including TPLO procedures, and the team includes colleagues undertaking postgraduate qualifications in surgery, orthopaedics, and cardiology. As a proud RVN training practice, there's a strong whole-team approach to patient care and learning, with regular social events and strong community involvement.
