Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This Veterinary Surgeon position at Axe Valley Vets, Weston offers a varied mix of consulting and operating days, with support from RVNs, ANAs, a Lead Receptionist and the wider client care team throughout the week. It is a small animal role based in Weston Super Mare, with one in ten Saturday mornings and no OOH, no full weekends and no Bank Holidays.

You’ll be joining a close-knit team that includes a Director of Practice, a Clinical Director, 10 Vets with a mix of experience and newer graduates, 9 RVNs and a supportive admin team. The practice says there is scope to support both medical and surgical interests, alongside ongoing development of your own clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a mix of consulting and operating days
• Take ownership of your own cases and provide care to clients

• Contribute to a varied caseload across medical and surgical work

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and registration, or eligibility to register, with the RCVS
• Experience in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning and openness to feedback
• Professionalism, reliability and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Passion for delivering excellent patient and client care
