About the Role
Kernow Farm and Equine is seeking a confident Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly, experienced team in Bodmin. This is a varied role combining ambulatory and clinic-based work, where you'll see everything from colic and lameness to wound management and sarcoid treatments. Your clients will range from competition horses to happy hackers and breeders, ensuring genuine variety in your day-to-day practice.
You'll work full-time over 4 days per week with a day off each week (part-time arrangements are also considered). The role includes a 1:4 share of weekend and out-of-hours rota. This is a fixed-term contract for 9 months.
You'll be well supported by visiting specialists in surgery and equine dentistry, alongside excellent facilities including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, gastroscopy, surgical laser, and portable X-ray equipment. The practice also offers access to hospital facilities, theatre, stocks, a lunge pen, and stabling.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient and client care across a varied and rewarding equine caseload, both in the field and at the clinic
- Work collaboratively with the ten-vet practice team to maintain excellent clinical standards
- Continue developing your clinical skills while sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues
- Contribute positively to the clinical culture of the practice and support the ongoing development of team members
- Manage routine medical and surgical cases with growing confidence and clinical competence
Requirements
- Veterinary degree and RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- Proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Kernow Farm and Equine was formed from the merger of Harleigh Vets, Pelyn Veterinary Group, and Churchend Veterinary Centre.
